1. How I Chose My Topic
I have always been interested in medical science, and the more dangerous part of me wanted to do a nuclear war project. I combined the two, the scientist who fond and harnessed the energy of radioactive elements. This seemed interesting to me because as I conducted general research into the topic, I found her influence over the technology we now take for granted incredible.
2. How I Conducted My Research
I started by reading a biography written by Marie Curie’s daughter, which cited various sources I have used. I also used online archives and searched for my topic, eventually leading me to credible sources.
3. How I Selected Category and Created Project
I decided to do a website because I like to use technology when I work. I also find it fun because I have n restrictions to what I can do (besides the rules). I created my project using a weebly website, using weebly to build the perfect website.
4. How My Project Relates to Leadership and Legacy
Marie Curie’s WWI War efforts relate to the theme of leadership and legacy. Throughout the war, she never fled Paris and continued to make donations to the army. She led a team of 21 “ambulances” to the front line to help heal soldiers and to build a permanent hospital using ahead-of-the-game, untrusted technology. She also provided women with jobs and led researchers into a new field of study, radioactivity. Her war efforts have also left behind a legacy, including providing jobs, establishing an Institute, and forming the beginnings of new hospitals across northern Europe.
